Less than three weeks remain before the 2024 NFL Draft officially kicks off in Detroit. That means the league has fully entered lying season, the period in which every piece of reporting or addition to the rumor mill requires extra scrutiny. Around this time in 2021, the San Francisco 49ers had supposedly focused on making Mac Jones their quarterback of the future. The following year, the Detroit Lions reportedly had Malik Willis "in the mix" at the No. 2 overall pick. None of those rumors came to fruition, of course. But they garnered serious coverage in the moment.

This year will surely prove no different. Plenty of the rumors treated as possible or even probable will ultimately yield nothing. Despite that, they form the basis for much of the draft coverage between now and when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell begins announcing the selections.

So, among the rumors currently in circulation that potentially affect the Green Bay Packers, which ones don't pass the smell test? Filtering out the bogus reports from those that merit serious consideration can prove challenging, especially given the volume of information that comes out the month of the draft. Still, some stand out as suspicious upon deeper inspection.
