2025 Packers roster ranking, 50-41: Key backups jostle for positioning
The Leap ranks the Green Bay Packers' 90-man roster in order of player caliber.
With the Green Bay Packers on break until training camp and the personnel essentially frozen for the foreseeable future, The Leap will use this time to reveal its annual 90-man roster rankings.
Our methodology: We ordered the players based on ability relative to their respective positions rather than the value of those positions. Put another way, this exercise prioritizes the "best" players, not necessarily the ones who offer the most "value." That means the starting quarterback doesn't have to top the list because of the position he plays.
Each edition of the 90-man roster ranking will include a batch of roughly 10 players. Due to voting ties, some batches will feature slightly more or less.
Today's slate features a handful of players competing for key backup and special-teams roles and, perhaps, even a chance to start.
50. Collin Oliver
Position: defensive end
How acquired: fifth-round draft pick (2025)
One of the two defensive ends selected by the Packers in the 2025 NFL Draft, Collin Oliver, could have a strange early career. The team seems genuinely intrigued by his athleticism and pass-rush productivity, but the staff openly discussed playing him at off-ball linebacker as well. That could eventually result in Oliver emerging as a dangerous chess piece, but it could stymie his development.
The Leap wrote the following about Oliver shortly after the draft:
Oliver as a pass rusher seems like a solid bet for a fifth-round pick, and his athleticism and experience should allow him to play off the ball as early as 2025. Meanwhile, he will effectively take over Eric Wilson's role on special teams from the jump. All of that adds up to a prospect with a strong chance to impact his team in Year 1.
Oliver will presumably open training camp behind several other pass rushers, including another member of Green Bay's 2025 draft class. However, health permitting, he should see plenty of action during the preseason as the Packers figure out how best to deploy him.
49. Kitan Oladapo
Position: safety
How acquired: fifth-round draft pick (2024)
The Packers made Kitan Oladapo their third and final safety selection in the 2024 draft. Unlike second-rounder Javon Bullard and fourth-rounder Evan Williams, Oladapo saw extremely limited action from scrimmage last season, combining for just 68 defensive snaps with none coming before Week 15. At least as a rookie, Green Bay largely kept him on special teams.
However, Oladapo grew into one of the key cogs in the third phase by the end of 2024. The Packers used him extensively on kickoff coverage and both return units, deploying him on all three in each of their final four games (including playoffs). Oladapo's 6-foot-1, 217-pound stature makes him a near-ideal piece for those situations, and his athletic upside (8.17 Relative Athletic Score) suggests he can plausibly carve out a niche on defense at some point down the line.
