After a whirlwind week, Packers' coaching staff soon to solidify around new promotions, hires
The Packers saw three high-level offensive assistants leave for positions with other teams, but Matt LaFleur managed to keep the core of the staff intact for the 2022 season.
The new configuration of the Green Bay Packers' coaching staff has started to come into view. While multiple major positions remain unfilled, the team has made most of the changes official.
On Tuesday, the Packers announced several in-house promotions. Luke Butkus, the team's assistant offensive-line coach since he joined the staff in 2019, will take over the primary role with Adam Stenavich moving to offensive coordinator, a transition reported here at The Leap earlier in the week. Additionally, wide-receivers coach Jason Vrable will add passing-game coordinator to his title while Connor Lewis will move from special teams to assistant quarterbacks coach and offensive quality-control coach Ryan Mahaffey will now work under Butkus.
With those roles now set, the Packers have two major offensive positions left to fill on the coaching staff as well as hire for the lower-level support roles. With Luke Getsy leaving Green Bay to become an offensive coordinator and Justin Outten set to do the same with the Denver Broncos, head coach Matt LaFleur will look outside the organization to find his next quarterbacks coach and tight-ends coach.
