I was so wrong about this one. I thought it was a bad idea that wouldn't happen. To be fair, I figured we'd have to give up more to get him. And that is a big contract. Plus they killed Kenny!
But Parsons is a 26 year old Unicorn who might be entering his prime. That's what I missed. Props to Gutey and Policy for having the nads to do it.
For whatever it's worth, you weren't alone in dismissing the notion outright. I first raised the possibility back in early March, and you can see for yourself how many reasons people manufactured as to why it could never happen: https://x.com/by_JBH/status/1898778389278028114
I don't mean any of this as a "dunk" on any of them. I fully understand why the idea of landing Micah Parsons at this stage of his career seemed unfathomable to so many people, until it actually happened.
I'd make that trade again today, 10 days out of 10. But now they gotta be smart. You don't win the Super Bowl in the first half of the season. While this is news to us, and should have been disclosed, unless the Packers were blindsided by blood lust, they knew about (some) of this. They don't need him to get no epidural in week ONE. They need him healed, and ready to hunt for the rest of the year. (i.e. the playoffs, etc). I guess we'll see what happens. My point is: I don't care about WEEK ONE. I care about 2025, 2026, and 2027. You?
i normally hate Jon Horst 'Go FOR BROKE" deals - but this is one that makes sense- we're getting a 26yr old in his prime not a 34 yr old PG. and draft value isnt 5-7 yrs out- its visible. if they get 5 yrs of AP Micah and a SB this will obv be another legendary Def Add for the pack...
