Jordan Morgan can jumpstart his career in Week 18, even if the Packers rest most of their starters

Green Bay's first-round pick from 2024 hasn't had very many opportunities to play his true position. Brian Gutekunst insists he's a tackle. Give him a chance to prove it.

Jordan Love likely won’t be under center. Heck, we aren’t even sure who the center will be on Sunday afternoon when the Green Bay Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings in a pugilistic exercise that will have no bearing on any standings outside of draft order. The Packers are locked into the NFC’s seven seed, and despite reports, Matt LaFleur insists no decisions have been made about whether or not to play starters for Green Bay.

What’s more, there are only so many players on a 53-man roster. This isn’t the preseason where LaFleur can use hockey lines and rest 20+ starters. They don’t have the bodies for that. Some of the preferred starters, the healthy ones, will have to play.

Jordan Morgan doesn’t quite fit that bill, but he has a chance to set his career on an entirely different trajectory against Brian Flores’ defense. As a guard, he’s struggled, particularly in pass protection, dealing with the slippery-but-powerful defensive tackles in the NFL.

Morgan never played guard at Arizona, and although he primarily trained at guard as a rookie last year, he played everywhere except center in training camp. The Packers’ approach, asking their offensive linemen to crosstrain, has served them well over the years. It may have been a big waste of time for Morgan.
