Jayden Daniels thrives like Jared Goff. Hear me out. Both quarterbacks want to work the underneath part of the field most of the game and take selective deep shots. When they take those explosive opportunities, they come off play-action. And their offenses are littered with players who can take a short play and turn it into long ones with elusiveness and explosiveness. The big difference, of course, is that Daniels is one of those players while Goff is not.

Still, the plan the Packers used Sunday to rattle Goff and force the Lions to be a methodical team won’t have to change much against the Washington Commanders on Thursday night.

Daniels threw the ball vertically on just 9.6% of his attempts last season, which ranked 31st among qualifying quarterbacks. Goff was even lower at 8.3%! But some of the iconic plays from Daniels last season came on deep shots, like the game-winner against the Cincinnati Bengals, against all-out pressure.
