In addition to playing without Micah Parsons for the first time this season, the Packers could realistically take the field without four of their other starters. That figure doesn’t include players like Lukas Van Ness and Dontayvion Wicks, who could step into starting roles as a result of injuries in their position groups.
On Tuesday, Peter already detailed the adjustments on the way for the post-Parsons defense. As he wrote, defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley and his assistants will have to lean into different coverage tactics as well as expand the pass-rush roles for Edgerrin Cooper and Quay Walker. Certainly, no schematic change will recreate Parsons’ contributions “in the aggregate,” but those strategies can at least account for some of what the Packers lost when their All-Pro pass rusher suffered a season-ending knee injury.
