On the field, not much has materially changed for the Green Bay Packers over the past week. However, the narratives surrounding the team have shifted, particularly as it pertains to the secondary.

The status of Jaire Alexander garnered considerable attention. While the divorce once seemed a fait accompli, the team held onto the star cornerback long enough for a potential reconciliation to gain momentum. By May, the notion of Alexander sticking in Green Bay appeared not only plausible, but perhaps even probable.

In the end, the two sides couldn't find common ground. The Packers offered a reduced, incentive-laden contract, but Alexander and his representatives didn't feel comfortable with the structure. With mandatory minicamp forcing the team and player into a potentially awkward position, Green Bay finally cut bait, releasing Alexander to the open market.

With Alexander no longer in the fold, questions abound about the Packers' outlook at cornerback. Let's attempt to separate the truth from the fiction.
