The 2025 iteration of the Packers offense still largely a mystery entering Week 2

The Packers beat the Lions so thoroughly that Matt LaFleur never had to reach too deep into his bag, leaving whatever he and his staff schemed up this offseason mostly unseen.

Up 11 points midway through the third quarter, the Green Bay Packers had little reason to worry about a Detroit Lions comeback.

The reigning NFC North champions appeared completely out of sorts. Half of their six possessions to that point in the contest had failed to cross the 50-yard line, and none ended with a touchdown. Detroit's most recent drive -- a 13-play, 55-yard series that reached Green Bay's 16-yard line -- resulted in Jared Goff throwing an interception under heavy pressure from Micah Parsons.

Almost nothing went right for the Lions. The game looked like a replay of one of the 24 consecutive games they lost at Lambeau Field between 1992 and 2014, not a matchup of two present-day Super Bowl front-runners.

On the other side, the day couldn't have unfolded much better for the Packers. After a season in which they finished a woeful 1-5 in the division and notched just two wins against eventual playoff teams, beating the brakes off the Lions sent a message to the rest of the NFL.

The Packers walked away with a dominant victory in the season opener without having to play all their cards. Because the Lions fell behind by so much so early in the proceedings, Green Bay essentially throttled down in the second half to keep the game out of reach. Quarterback Jordan Love attempted just six passes after halftime while Josh Jacobs registered 13 carries over the same span.

That development bodes well for Green Bay with the Washington Commanders coming to town just four days later. As both teams prepare for the prime-time showdown on Thursday night, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has yet to unveil this year's iteration of his offense.
